Irish dancing soft shoes, or ghilles, used when dancing jigs and reels are similar to ballet shoes. They are made of soft leather with the instep sometimes strengthened but they do not have a block in the toe like a ballet shoe. The hard shoes for dancing the hornpipe also made of leather have tips made of fibreglass or resin on the heels and toes to produce a louder sound when dancing.

okay! hi guys. i’m just posting this because i think instead of asking the SAME questions over and over again you should search for questions… like i keep seeing "Am i too old to start dancing?!" the answer is never going to change.. NO! you are not too old.
anyone agree?

I completely agree! People waste so much time answering the same question like 80 times. I’ve actually copied and pasted answers of mine to duplicate questions before b/c I didn’t feel like writing it all out again. GEEZ people. Look it up!!
I also hate the ones that you could easily find by googling it, like where can I find a dance studio near Someplace, Somewhere. You live there, look it up.

Types of dance.

There are many types of dance.

I know I am leaving some out because there are more types of dance than one knows,

But below are types of dance known and danced often around the world.

Ballet

Ballet emerged in the late fifteenth-century Renaissance court culture of Italy as a dance interpretation of fencing, and further developed in the French court from the time of Louis XIV in the 17th century. Ballet is what a lot of people beleve the basis of a lot of dances.

The dance requires you to be fit as it can be gruelling.

In ballet they dance en Pointe on their toes in Pointe shoes.

jazz

Jazz is a fun dance style that relies heavily on originality and improvisation. Many jazz dancers mix different styles into their dancing, incorporating their own expression. Jazz dancing often uses bold, dramatic body movements.

Tap

Tap dancing is an exciting form of dance in which dancers wear special shoes equipped with metal taps. Tap dancers use their feet like drums to create rhythmic patterns and timely beats.

Hip-hop

Hip-hop is a dance style, usually danced to hip-hop music, that evolved from the hip-hop culture. Hip-hop includes various moves such as breaking, popping, locking and krumping, and even house dance. Improvisation and personal interpretation are essential to hip-hop dancing.

Modern dance

Modern dance is a dance style that rejects many of the strict rules of classical ballet, focusing instead on the expression of inner feelings. Modern dance was created as a rebellion against classical ballet, emphasizing creativity in choreography and performance.

Country and western

Country and western dance includes several dance forms, usually danced to country-western music. If you’ve ever been to a country and western club or tavern, you’ve probably seen a few cowboy boot-wearing dancers twirling around the dance floor with big smiles on their faces.

Folk

Folk dance refers to a variety of dances developed by groups or communities, as opposed to being made up by a choreographer. There are several types of folk dance including clogging, English country dance, international folk dance, Irish dance, Maypole dance, Morris dance, Nordic polska dance, square dance, and many more. Folk dances are often performed at social events.
